Rogue River Chieftains Softball 4-6 Sutherlin
A late rally came up just short for Rogue River softball Thursday afternoon, as the Chieftains dropped a 6-4 decision to visiting Sutherlin in non-league action. The loss moves Rogue River to 2-7 on the season as they continue working through a challenging spring campaign.
Sutherlin jumped out to an early advantage and maintained their lead throughout most of the contest, building enough cushion to withstand a determined Chieftain comeback attempt in the later innings. Rogue River showed fight by closing the gap to two runs, but couldn't quite find the timely hits needed to complete the turnaround.
The non-league format provided valuable experience against different competition, though the Chieftains were hoping to use the matchup to build momentum heading into the heart of their league schedule. With league play intensifying in the coming weeks, Rogue River will look to translate the positive elements from their late-game surge into more consistent offensive production. The Chieftains return to action next week as they continue their pursuit of turning the corner this season.
