Phoenix Pirates Boys Volleyball 1-3 Marshfield
The Phoenix Pirates' quest for their first boys volleyball victory came up short Tuesday night as visiting Marshfield claimed a 3-1 decision to spoil the home opener at Phoenix High School.
The Pirates showed flashes of potential in what marked their inaugural season in the sport, managing to capture one set against the experienced Marshfield squad. However, the visitors' seasoned play proved too much as they took three of the four sets to earn the league victory.
Phoenix enters the spring campaign as a program building from the ground up, with many players new to competitive volleyball. The Pirates demonstrated they could compete at the varsity level, keeping pace with Marshfield throughout much of the contest before ultimately falling short.
The loss drops Phoenix to 0-1 in league play to start the 2026 season. Head coach and players will look to build on the positive moments from their debut as they continue developing chemistry and refining their system.
The Pirates return to action later this week as they seek their first program victory.
