A late equalizer kept the scoreboard knotted at 2-2 Thursday night as Phoenix boys soccer split the points with Mazama in a Skyline Conference (4A) league match played in Phoenix, Oregon. Neither side could claim the full three points after a competitive evening that ended in a draw for both programs. The result moves Phoenix to 2-2-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play, leaving the Fire in the middle of the Skyline standings with the postseason window still in view. Phoenix entered the night at 2-2-3, carrying momentum from recent league action, and the team showed enough quality to find the net twice against a Mazama side that has proven tough to beat. Earning a point at home keeps Phoenix in contention, though the squad will know that converting draws into wins becomes critical as the regular season winds down. Phoenix returns to action next week looking to climb the conference table and strengthen its playoff positioning.
