Phoenix Pirates Baseball 3-7 North Bend

Phoenix dropped its first game of the young baseball season Monday, falling 7-3 to North Bend in a non-league road matchup. The Pirates entered the contest unbeaten but couldn't contain the Bulldogs' offensive attack in the coastal town.
North Bend built an early advantage and maintained control throughout most of the nine-inning affair. Phoenix managed three runs but left opportunities on the base paths as North Bend's pitching staff worked out of several jams.
The loss snaps Phoenix's perfect start to the 2026 campaign, dropping the Pirates to 2-1 overall. While disappointing, the non-league setback provides valuable experience against quality competition from outside the Rogue Valley.
Phoenix showed resilience by continuing to battle despite trailing for much of the game, a positive sign as the season progresses. The Pirates generated enough offense to stay competitive but will need more consistent production in crucial situations.
Phoenix returns home this week to regroup before their next contest. The early-season schedule offers plenty of opportunities to bounce back and build momentum heading into league play.
