Illinois Valley Cougars Girls Soccer 2-2 Sutherlin

Illinois Valley's girls soccer team picked up its first point of the season Monday, battling Sutherlin to a 2-2 draw in a Sunset Conference (2A) league match played in Cave Junction, Oregon. The result moves the Cougars to 0-7-1 overall and 0-5 in conference play. After a difficult start to the fall, Illinois Valley showed resilience at home, matching Sutherlin goal for goal and refusing to let the lead slip away for good. Without a detailed box score available, the final scoreline tells the story well enough. A team that had yet to earn a result this season walked off its home field with something to build on. The Sunset Conference schedule continues to present challenges for Illinois Valley, but a hard-fought draw against a conference opponent is a moment worth recognizing. The Cougars will look to carry that competitive energy into their next matchup and keep pushing for their first league win of the season.
